Classic Romance Meets Playful Garden Party

An Intimate Backyard Affair in San Diego

Teresa and Christian were set to celebrate their marriage at the beach with 300 guests. Covid sparked change in their plans and nearly a week before their wedding, the couple decided to have their reception at the bride’s parents’ home with 60 of their nearest and dearest. In the summer of 2020, Teresa and Christian were married under the sun at St. Margaret's Catholic Church in San Diego, with cheerful blooms hugging the aisle by Blooms Design House embracing the day with garden party flair.

Where classic romance meets garden party, playful touches of terracotta and pottery were woven into their day as a nod to Teresa's love for gardening. For the escort display, potted plants of all shapes and sizes with calligraphed guest names and table numbers by Four Things Paper showed each guest to their seat. Even the cake had the sweetest potted plant details! The guests enjoyed a slice of scrumptious chocolate salted caramel cake with vanilla swiss meringue by Milly's Cakes.

The reception took place under a sailcloth tent at Teresa's parents' home in Fallbrook, California. Brass chandeliers wrapped with smilax greenery created soft lighting while natural wood tables were draped in white tassel runners with a mix of tufted cane back chairs and cross-back chairs for each guest to be seated in. Wood chargers and lace dinner and salad plates with vintage flatware and gold-rimmed glassware sat in front of guests with sage fringe napkins enclosed with leather napkin rings and elegant menus by Four Things Paper. The entire day was encompassed by soft romantic hues of blush and rose paired with luscious greens, warm terracotta, crisp white, and hints of sage—it was a garden party dream come true!
