ABOUT Ashdown Events

Hi! My name is Kari LaBomme and I am Ashdown Events. I created my company because I feel intensely about making sure people get the wedding (or event) they want, remember their day and enjoy the whole adventure.
And it is an incredibly creative adventure!

I have over twenty years of theatre production and eight years of event experience (mentored by the inimitable Pat Frey), which I bring to crafting your event. I have worked all over the world and in venues from backyards to ballrooms.

I love weddings and family events because of the personal touches that can be integrated to make each so detailed, personal and distinctive. Any style from rustic ranch to chic vintage or enchanted museum, I am with you every step of the way to create something true to you.

There are several levels of service I can provide you from full planning and design to coordinating the big day.

I work with a wide range of vendors (in cost and style) to cover all aspects of your party or event and ensure you have exactly the services you want. Small gatherings or large, I help you create the vendor team that will make the magic happen and handle all the logistics, contracts, payments and schedules. I will help you put all the pieces together.

Kari LaBomme curated, organized and designed my wedding in the autumn of 2019 at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County. It was “enchanted forest amongst the dinosaurs” themed and had little nods to timeless films like Harry Potter, Edward Scissorhands, Jurassic Park, etc. Imagine a client telling you they want all that along with having to deal with very particular museum restrictions! Well, let me tell you... she went above and beyond to accomplish this eccentric bride’s dream wedding!!

Take it from me, weddings can be super overwhelming for a bride. Like decisions of what color napkins look good on the sweetheart table to how they coordinate with the linens on the cocktail tables, to making sure all the build staff are on the same page behind the scenes, to paperwork and communicating with all the dozens of vendors. I could not imagine doing this by myself! My head would have exploded!

Not only was the design and organizing aspect completely handled and managed by Kari, she was also my personal therapist through months of planning and dealing with typical wedding pressures. Kari is a powerful force who gets the job done. She will let you cry on her shoulder and she will step up for you if you need someone who can grab ‘em by the balls!

I recommend Kari completely and if I had to do it all over again, I would hire her again and again. I plan to hire her when we renew our vows in 10 years and I’m sure I’ll come up with an even more elaborate theme for her to play with. Get ready Kari!!

Working with Kari was the most therapeutic experience of the entire wedding. She held my hand every step of the way, had patience for all my indecisiveness, and kept me sane on top of it all. The final product was literally ripped from my imagination and executed flawlessly. It was all a beautiful dream! From the bottom of my heart, thank you Kari!
